APEPDCL Workshop Pushes Solar Expansion and Digital Payments
Power officials in Andhra Pradesh held a two-day meeting about improving electricity services.
They want more homes to use solar power.
They also want people to understand virtual net metering, which can help apartment communities share rooftop solar power.
Eligible BC consumers may receive benefits from a central scheme and an extra state subsidy of Rs 20,000.
The officials hope to support solar systems in about 30 lakh households.
They are also spending money on substations, transformers and underground cables.
Officials will tell consumers about planned outages and maintenance work ahead of time.
They want more people to use WhatsApp services, UPI and QR-code payments for electricity services.
APEPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Prudhvitej Immadi directed officials to expand solar power use across Andhra Pradesh.
The workshop focused on the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar scheme, a state subsidy of Rs 20,000, and virtual net metering.
Officials said virtual net metering could help apartment residents and group housing societies use rooftop solar power.
APEPDCL aims to promote solar systems in about 30 lakh households and is investing Rs 1,800 crore to Rs 1,900 crore in network improvements.
The utility plans village-level awareness campaigns and aims to raise digital payment usage above 90 per cent.
