Tripura Expands Food Safety Drive With 6,478 Registrations
Tripura is checking food businesses more closely to make sure food is safe.
The government issued thousands of registrations and some licences to food businesses.
Officials inspected many establishments and found that most were fully following the rules.
Some businesses needed to improve, while five were found ineligible.
Special inspections also found problems at around 37 to 39 establishments.
Food samples were tested in laboratories, and some showed irregularities.
Authorities issued notices, started legal proceedings and collected fines.
They also trained food sellers and street vendors about cleanliness and safe food handling.
Tripura issued 6,478 food registrations and 75 licences during the 2026-27 financial year.
Officials conducted 246 pre-licensing and post-licensing inspections, finding 201 establishments fully compliant, 40 partially compliant and five ineligible.
Special enforcement drives inspected 478 establishments, with irregularities detected in approximately 37-39 of them and legal proceedings initiated.
Laboratories identified irregularities in eight survey samples and one enforcement sample, prompting closure and stop-sale notices.
Authorities trained 2,008 food operators and street vendors through 59 camps and collected Rs 1,31,900 in fines.
