Food safety officials and police checked many food businesses in Hyderabad.

They visited restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, messes, and hostels.

They said some places had dirty areas, pests, and spoiled or expired food.

Some refrigerators were not clean or did not separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods properly.

Contaminated meat and vegetables were thrown away.

Officials collected 20 food samples to test for possible adulteration.

One men’s hostel was closed because it did not have the required food safety registration.

Six other establishments will receive notices telling them to fix their problems.
