Bhiwandi Police Arrest Driver After Seizing 500 Kg Suspected Beef
Police in Bhiwandi stopped a car early on September 4.
They said the car was carrying about 500 kilograms of meat they identified as beef.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Shahid Khan.
Police said he tried to escape and drove toward an officer.
The officer moved aside and was not hurt.
Police later chased and stopped the car.
They believe other people may also have been involved.
Police are investigating where the meat came from and where it was supposed to go.

Police said the driver allegedly accelerated toward policeman Amol Salunkhe while attempting to evade interception.
The car was stopped near Murlidhar Temple on Dargah Road after a police chase.
Police alleged Khan and seven others were involved in procuring and transporting meat for illegal sale.
A case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and the Motor Vehicles Act.
