Police Stop Two Alleged Cattle-Smuggling Attempts in Kathua

Police in Kathua said they stopped two groups from moving cattle in ways they considered illegal.

In the first case, officers stopped a truck at Lakhanpur.

The truck was carrying 17 animals, including cows and oxen.

Police arrested the driver, Mohd Saleem, and took the truck.

In the second case, officers stopped Ali Hussain and Saif Ali in Basholi.

Police said the two men were taking 19 animals toward Punjab on foot without permission.

Altogether, 36 animals were rescued and three people were arrested.

Cases were filed under animal-protection and other relevant laws.
