CSMT Block Extended to September 5 as Pune Yard Upgraded
Work is continuing at Mumbai’s CSMT railway station.
The railway has extended a traffic and electricity block until September 5, 2026.
This means some trains will not reach CSMT and will instead stop at Dadar or Thane.
The work is part of the station’s redevelopment.
Railway officials have asked passengers to plan their journeys carefully.
Separately, workers upgraded a complicated track arrangement at Pune Yard.
They replaced several rails and other track equipment with stronger components.
Railway officials expect this to make the yard more reliable and ready for heavier train traffic.
Central Railway extended the CSMT traffic and power block until September 5, 2026, for redevelopment work on Platforms 16 and 17.
Three trains will remain short-terminated at Dadar, while the Mangaluru-CSMT Express will terminate at Thane.
The CSMT work is linked to infrastructure and foundation construction by the Rail Land Development Authority.
Pune Yard converted its fourth 52 kg Diamond Double Slip to a 60 kg configuration during a nine-hour block on August 23.
The Pune upgrade renewed rails, crossings, joints, switch motors and other equipment to strengthen yard operations.
