PM Modi Delivers Shortest Independence Day Speech in Four Years

India celebrates its Independence Day every year on August 15.

On this day, the Prime Minister gives a big speech from the Red Fort in New Delhi.

In 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave this speech again.

It was his 13th time doing it in a row.

This year's speech was shorter than the ones he gave in the last four years.

Some newspapers said it was 75 minutes long, while another said 78 minutes.

Last year, his speech was the longest ever at 103 minutes.

That is more than one and a half hours!

Mr. Modi has been giving Independence Day speeches since 2014.

Only the very first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, gave more speeches in a row, with 17 of them.
