PM Modi's Red Fort Speech Marks India's 80th Independence Day

India celebrates its Independence Day every year on August 15.

This year, on August 15, 2026, the country will mark its 80th Independence Day.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will raise the Indian flag at a famous old fort called the Red Fort in Delhi.

He will give a speech to the whole nation from the fort's ramparts.

This will be his 13th time giving this special speech.

This year, people will also celebrate 150 years of India's national song, 'Vande Mataram.'

A big crowd of about 27,000 people is expected to come and watch.

People who cannot go can watch the ceremony on TV or on the internet for free.

Special security will keep everyone safe, with no drones, kites, or paragliders allowed near the fort.
