Delhi Flags Off 200 Electric Buses, Expands Women-Only Services
Delhi added 200 electric buses to its public transport system.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu launched them on August 19.
The total bus fleet was described as nearly 6,800, although reports gave different numbers for the electric portion.
Fifty-six new services are only for women and will run on busy routes and near colleges.
These services are meant to make travel safer and easier for women and students.
Five electric buses also started traveling between Delhi and Karnal.
A public charging station for electric vehicles opened at Rajghat Depot-I.
Earlier in August, the government opened a centre at Punjabi Bagh for donating old clothes.
Gupta also made allegations about corruption under the former AAP government, citing CAG reports.
