Delhi has started special electric buses that only women can use.

They are meant mainly for women going to work and female students.

The buses will run during busy morning and evening hours.

Women police officers and Home Guards will travel on the Ladies Special buses.

The buses have panic buttons connected to the police emergency number 112.

Delhi also added 200 new electric buses to its fleet.

A new electric bus service between Delhi and Karnal has started as well.

The government also opened a charging station for electric buses and other vehicles.

56 trips: 30 Ladies Special trips on 15 routes and 26 University Ladies Special trips on 13 routes.
Safety measures
Women police personnel and Home Guards are deployed on Ladies Special buses, with panic buttons connected to Delhi Police’s 112 emergency response system.
New electric buses
200 buses were added: 88 12-metre buses and 112 DEVI 9-metre buses; all are low-floor and air-conditioned.
Delhi electric fleet
The electric bus fleet has crossed 5,000, while the overall bus fleet is around 6,800.
Delhi-Karnal service
Five air-conditioned electric buses will make 10 daily trips in each direction; the Kashmere Gate–Karnal fare is around Rs 212.
Charging station
The Rajghat Depot-1 facility has four 240-kW chargers and a 1,600-kVA compact sub-station.
Fleet target
Delhi plans to expand its total bus fleet to around 14,000 by 2028-29.
