Delhi SIR Could Exclude 47.6 Lakh Voters From Draft Roll
Delhi is checking its voter list through a process called the Special Intensive Revision.
Before the check, Delhi had about 145 lakh voters.
About 97.5 lakh voter forms had been entered into the computer system by August 17.
This means about 47.6 lakh forms were not yet digitised and could be missing from the first voter list.
The first list is only a draft, so these names are not necessarily deleted forever.
People whose names are missing can submit Form 6 and make a claim between August 24 and September 23.
Officials will check these claims before publishing the final list on October 27.
About three-quarters of the non-digitised voters appear to have moved homes, but other cases could not be verified for different reasons.
Delhi had 145 lakh electors before the Special Intensive Revision, while about 97.5 lakh forms were digitised by August 17.
The 47.6 lakh non-digitised forms represent a potential draft deletion rate of 32.82%, not a final deletion total.
South East Delhi had the highest district-level potential deletion rate at 43.68%, while Outer North had the lowest at 24.32%.
Tughlakabad recorded the highest constituency-level potential deletion rate at 47.86%, followed by Okhla at 45.33%.
The draft roll is scheduled for August 24, with claims accepted until September 23 and the final roll due October 27.
