Sichuan sets up three provincial standardisation committees

Sichuan announced three new provincial standardisation committees at a World Standards Day event in Chengdu on October 12.

They cover human resources and social security, environmental microbiology, and a subcommittee focused on Leshan cuisine.

The event also released two standards-related documents: a guide to standardisation in the low-altitude economy industry in Sichuan Tianfu New Area, and the 2026 World Standards Day Tianfu Initiative.

The event focused on affordable clean energy, the theme of the 57th World Standards Day.

Standardisation means setting shared rules and guidance that organisations can use across industries.

Chengdu has taken part in thousands of national standards, including 2,953 national standards it led or helped develop since the start of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan.

The city says standards work has supported key industries and helped businesses seek international markets.

Chengdu market regulators say they will strengthen standards and cooperation and link standardisation more closely with industrial innovation.
