Apple reportedly cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders by up to 20%

Apple has reportedly asked some suppliers to reduce component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The reported cuts are 15% to 20% below Apple’s original requests for October.

The phones went on sale on September 18, with starting prices of $1,199 for the Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max, each $100 more than its predecessor.

Higher component costs and a wider shortage of memory chips have contributed to price increases across the smartphone industry.

Apple has also delayed the standard iPhone 18 and the next iPhone Air until a planned spring release, so those lower-priced models are not yet available.

Shorter delivery waits for the Pro models may point to weaker demand, though Apple’s launch schedule could also affect the figures.

Apple has not commented publicly, and it is not clear whether it will make further production cuts in November.
