Google is testing a simpler way to use Gmail’s Help Me Write

Google is working on changes to Help Me Write, a feature in Gmail that drafts emails from a user’s instructions.

The changes are being developed for Gmail on mobile.

Currently, users start the feature with a swipe or a pencil icon, then review a draft in a separate panel before inserting it into the email.

The planned version could show a “Describe your message” box in the composer and place the generated draft directly in the email.

Users could also adjust the draft’s tone and use undo and redo buttons to switch between versions.

This could make the feature quicker to use, but the updated experience is not widely available, and it may not reach a public release.

Google may roll it out in a future update, but no release date is given.
