Companies have more ways to access Nvidia GPUs as demand grows
Nvidia GPUs, or graphics processing units, are widely used to run artificial intelligence workloads.
Companies can access them through major cloud providers such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google, through specialist providers called neoclouds, through online marketplaces or by buying the hardware.
Demand has grown since the 2022 launch of ChatGPT, and major cloud providers do not always have as many GPUs available as companies need.
One startup said it now uses 25 neocloud providers after needing more computing power than it could get from the major clouds alone.
Industry research firm SemiAnalysis counted 323 Nvidia GPU providers in September, up from 209 less than 11 months earlier.
The expanding choice may help companies find capacity, but it can also make it harder to decide where to get computing power.
Nvidia expects revenue of $108 billion for the October quarter, an 89% increase from a year earlier.
Companies can access Nvidia GPUs through major cloud providers, neoclouds, online marketplaces or direct purchases.
Demand for the chips is growing, and Nvidia’s stock reached another record this week.
SemiAnalysis counted 323 Nvidia GPU providers in September, up from 209 less than 11 months earlier.
The range of providers can make it harder for companies to find enough computing power.
Nvidia management anticipates $108 billion in revenue for the October quarter, an 89% year-over-year increase.
