Turkish government bonds lead investments in September after inflation

In September, Turkish government domestic borrowing securities, or government bonds, gave investors the strongest return after inflation.

The Turkish Statistical Institute said their inflation-adjusted return was 1.4%.

Gross deposit interest also gained value after inflation, while the U.S. dollar, euro, gold and the BIST 100 index lost value.

These figures are called real returns because they account for changes in consumer prices.

The leading investment changed over longer periods: deposits performed best over three and six months, while gold had the strongest annual return.

The results show that performance depended on the time period measured, and the figures do not say what investors should expect next.
