Ömer Gökhan Tuncer elected head of İzmir Commodity Exchange

Ömer Gökhan Tuncer has been elected head of the İzmir Commodity Exchange in İzmir, Turkey.

He received 36 votes, while the other candidate, Barış Kocagöz, received 16; one vote was invalid.

The exchange’s new board will serve from 2026 to 2030.

Bülent Uçak was also elected parliament chair, with 30 votes, while Özhan Şen received 20.

The exchange represents members involved in commodity trade, including agriculture.

Tuncer said he wants the exchange to make decisions jointly and advance digital tools in agriculture and trade.

Uçak said the new leadership aims to bring the institution’s traditions together with new technology and focus on solving sector problems.
