Mexico’s Senate says Inzunza’s decision to leave his seat is his own

More than 26,000 people signed a request urging Senator Enrique Inzunza to leave his seat and face justice without political immunity.

The Senate said the choice to take leave belongs to each senator.

It did not answer the request for a meeting with its president.

Inzunza has been accused by the United States of making a pact with drug traffickers.
