Sheinbaum begins IMSS-Bienestar hospital visits amid worker protests
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has begun a tour of hospitals and health centers run by IMSS-Bienestar, the public health system operating in 24 states.
The visits come amid protests by health workers.
Sheinbaum says she will meet hospital directors, regional coordinators and the system’s director to hear about local problems and what facilities need.
She will also listen to workers and patients.
The tour will review efforts to install digital medical records, which some hospitals have struggled to adopt, and the progress of health centers.
It began in Hidalgo and is due to continue in the State of Mexico over the weekend.
Sheinbaum plans to complete the tour by December.
