Chihuahua governor names new security chief and justice official

Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos announced changes to the state’s security and justice leadership.

Gilberto Loya Chávez, who led the public security department, will take charge of the state prosecutor’s office on an acting basis.

Luis Ángel Aguirre Rodríguez, previously a deputy in that department, will lead public security.

Francisco Sáenz Soto, who had been in charge of the prosecutor’s office, will continue working within the institution.

Campos said the changes are intended to strengthen coordination and deliver measurable results in security and justice.

Loya’s permanent appointment as prosecutor general must still follow the process set by the state constitution and legislature.

In the meantime, he is taking charge of the office.
