Kochi Corporation plans to give a vigilance agency the names of people it says may be abusing the right to request public information.

The mayor says some applicants are involved in extortion, but critics say the plan could punish people for using a legal right.

The RTI law does not set a limit on how many applications a person can file.

Critics are seeking to have the decision reversed.
