MIPCOM buyers weigh new dramas and formats amid TV industry change

MIPCOM, the world’s largest television trade fair, runs from Oct.

12 to 15 in the South of France.

TV buyers from around the world meet there to consider programmes for their channels and streaming services.

This year, the industry is dealing with the rise of vertical dramas, AI-generated content and competition for viewers from YouTube and online creators.

Traditional television remains a focus, with buyers being offered spy thrillers, period dramas, reality shows and other formats.

Among the programmes on offer are a new adaptation of John le Carré spy novels and a dating show where contestants meet in fantasy costumes.

The fair gives TV companies a chance to connect with international partners and explore what they might show next.
