South Korean crypto exchanges have safeguards, but large-hack rules remain unclear
South Korean exchanges must hold customers’ assets and keep at least 80% of their value in offline storage.
They also need insurance or reserves for losses, and generally must review compensation claims within 15 business days.
But current law does not clearly set out liability and repayment rules for very large hacks.
The government is discussing changes to strengthen those protections.
