Energy leaders meet in Riyadh amid supply and shipping risks

Energy ministers, officials and industry leaders are meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 11 to 15 October.

The meetings include the 17th International Energy Forum ministerial meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia with Italy and Nigeria.

Participants are discussing how to keep energy supplies reliable and markets stable as geopolitical risks threaten oil and gas flows.

Risks to sea routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, have raised questions about alternatives if traditional shipping paths are disrupted.

The agenda also covers investment, rising electricity demand, clean energy, digital technology, artificial intelligence and carbon management.

Separate meetings on clean energy and innovation are taking place alongside the forum.

The week continues with the opening of the 25th World Petroleum Congress on Monday, and events run through 15 October.
