Fincantieri’s employee crew competes in Barcolana 58
Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero said sailing and company work both depend on preparation, teamwork and shared responsibility.
Fincantieri is taking part in Barcolana 58 with Doers on Board, a boat crewed only by employees from its sites.
This is the second year the company has entered its own boat in the race.
The project has reached 340 employees so far, and Folgiero said the target is 500 by the end of the year.
The boat has visited Fincantieri shipyards across Italy, where it has been used for team-building activities and trips with employees’ families.
Folgiero described it as more than a racing boat, saying it also helps build a sense of belonging across the company.
The crew was preparing to set sail, with company guests and managers also expected aboard.

Sailing is preparation, division of tasks but also shared responsibility and teamwork, without rhetoric.
To sail, you have to be together, trust one another and share objectives, and prepare.
