Airfares in Mexico rose 15.4% in September as jet fuel costs surged

Airfares in Mexico jumped 15.4% in September, while jet fuel prices rose 65.6%.

The fuel increase has made flights more expensive for airlines to operate.

Airlines are passing some of those costs on to passengers and also adjusting routes, schedules and aircraft use.

Higher fares matter to travelers because they can make air travel more costly.
