US records crude oil exports to Mexico despite Pemex denial

The United States recorded an export of 597,027 barrels of crude oil to Mexico in June 2026, worth $69.67 million.

The shipment was registered through the customs district of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Pemex says it has not imported crude oil in 2026, and Mexico’s Energy Ministry did not respond to questions.

The US figures do not identify a Mexican buyer or the oil’s final destination.

The June shipment was the first recorded US crude export to Mexico in eight years; a smaller shipment was recorded in May.

Mexico exports much of its crude, mainly to the United States, while importing processed fuels such as gasoline and diesel.

Refineries can also import crude to blend oil types that suit their equipment and help produce more valuable fuels.

The available information does not say who received the June shipment or what happens next.
