Mexico increases fuel tax relief for Magna and Premium gasoline

Mexico’s Finance Ministry has set fuel tax relief for October 10–16, 2026.

Diesel will keep 100% relief on its special production and services tax, so buyers pay no tax per litre.

Relief for Magna gasoline rises to 4.31 pesos per litre, while relief for Premium rises to 4.03 pesos.

The remaining tax is 2.39 pesos per litre for Magna and 1.62 pesos for Premium.

The changes come as oil prices fluctuate amid threats to shipping in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, and supply disruptions linked to conflicts and a hurricane.

That matters because changes in fuel taxes affect the amount drivers pay in tax, while the wider pressures have also raised fuel prices.

The new relief rates apply for the stated week.
