Mastodon announce 170 vinyl copies made with fossil dust
Atlanta metal band Mastodon has announced a special vinyl edition of its latest album, Marrow Deep.
The records include dust made by grinding fossilized mastodon teeth the band received as a gift more than 20 years ago.
The University of Georgia’s geology department and Waxworks Records helped make the pressing, with Loma Vista Recordings also involved.
Band members added the usable fossil dust to the records during production.
The edition is limited to 170 copies, so fans must register for a chance to buy one.
Buyers will be selected at random.
Mastodon is currently touring with Deafheaven and Alcest.
