Mike Love faces serious health challenges, John Stamos says
Beach Boys singer Mike Love, 85, is facing serious health challenges, according to his longtime friend and fellow performer John Stamos.
The band played its first public concert in three months in Cincinnati on Saturday after delays and cancellations during its reunion tour.
Stamos told the crowd that Love had health issues, then helped him onto the stage, where he sat through the performance.
Stamos said Love planned to perform at a concert in Nashville the following night.
He said Love wanted to be on stage despite doctors, family and friends urging him to focus on his health.
Stamos has performed with the Beach Boys since the 1980s and said he has played music with Love for 41 years.
Love’s health and future plans remain uncertain, Stamos said, while the band’s next stated performance was the Nashville concert.
