Farmers urge rail route to help Turkey export citrus
Turkey’s citrus production and exports have grown, but shipping to major markets such as Russia and Ukraine has become harder because of security risks in the Black Sea.
Adana farmers’ group head Mutlu Doğru says refrigerated rail transport could carry fruit from southern Turkey through Kars to Central Asian countries.
He says this could make exports faster and cheaper.
The rail link is a proposal, not a reported decision.
