Most Spanish companies using AI are still testing it
Most Spanish companies that use artificial intelligence are still testing it rather than relying on it in their work.
At a conference in Spain, participants said 60% of companies with at least 10 employees that use AI remain in an experimental phase, and 6% report significant use.
Eurostat data show that 20.3% of Spanish companies of that size used AI in 2025, nearly twice the share from the previous year.
Spain has extensive high-capacity internet coverage, including in rural areas, and gets 55.5% of its electricity from renewable sources.
But having strong infrastructure has not yet led most companies to use AI in their processes or decisions.
Adoption also varies by company size: across the EU, use ranges from 55% in large companies to 17% in small and medium-sized firms with 10 to 49 employees.
Conference participants discussed ways to encourage business investment, reduce administrative delays, support smaller firms and give companies more predictable regulation.
