Modified PS5 emulator boots games on Xbox Series X
A modified PlayStation 5 emulator is running on Xbox Series X through the console’s Developer Mode.
The emulator, called KytyPS5, was ported to Xbox as an app by a developer identified as @maccosmo.
Astro Bot runs at about 10 frames per second on the Xbox version, while Wolverine starts but runs too slowly to play comfortably.
The emulator can also run Demon’s Souls and Astro Bot at over 60 frames per second in other conditions, but that is not the performance reported for Astro Bot on Xbox.
Code translation is one reason this is still a work in progress, as the Xbox version uses a renderer that converts shaders for the console.
The developer’s progress could eventually make Astro Bot more playable on Xbox, but the source says it is not yet at that level.
