Kejriwal condemns detention of protesters as ‘worse than emergency’

Police detained several people who were heading to a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

The protest was called by the Cockroach Janata Party and youth groups, which are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged vote theft.

Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders condemned the detentions and said the protesters should be able to speak peacefully.

Delhi Metro closed 45 stations for security reasons.
