New teams challenge traditional Ranji Trophy powers

For many years, a small group of teams dominated the Ranji Trophy.

Since 2016-17, Vidarbha has won three titles and Saurashtra two, while several other teams have won their first or recent championships.

More investment, coaching and chances to play have helped teams build stronger players.

That means the title is no longer held by just a few traditional powers.
