Matt Renshaw's 190 lifts Australia to 390 in Durban Test

Australia were in trouble in the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban, falling to 124 runs for six wickets.

Matt Renshaw, a 30-year-old left-handed batter, steadied the innings and scored 190, his highest Test score and first Test century in almost 10 years.

He faced 397 balls and helped Australia reach 390 before the team was bowled out.

Nathan Lyon added 27 as he and Renshaw put on 134 runs for the ninth wicket.

Renshaw’s innings set the highest score by an Australian at the Durban ground and helped rebuild confidence in patient, resilient batting.

South Africa began its reply and ended the second day at 27 runs for one wicket, 363 behind.

Rain reduced playing time on both days, and South Africa’s innings was set to continue.
