Verstappen takes Singapore pole ahead of Leclerc and Hamilton
Max Verstappen will start first at the Singapore Grand Prix after taking pole in qualifying at Marina Bay in Singapore.
Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton qualified second and third, just 0.054 and 0.123 seconds behind him.
Hamilton had been fastest in the first two stages but added front wing for the final stage, and said the change made the car harder to control.
Leclerc said mistakes and difficulties under braking cost him time.
Verstappen had also won the sprint earlier that day, continuing a strong weekend for Red Bull.
The result gives Verstappen a chance to win in Singapore for the first time, while Ferrari is still waiting for its first full pole of the season.
The race is scheduled for Sunday.
