UK Selects ‘Rehearsals for a Revolution’ as Its Oscars International Feature Entry

The UK has chosen Pegah Ahangarani’s film ‘Rehearsals for a Revolution’ as its entry for the Best International Feature category at the upcoming Oscars.

Ahangarani is an Iranian filmmaker who has lived in exile and is rebuilding her life and creative work in London.

The film draws on personal archives, home videos, protest footage, newspapers and recorded voices to trace around 40 years of Iran’s history.

The UK selection makes the film eligible for consideration in that Oscar category, but it does not guarantee a nomination.

The film could also compete in the documentary category, giving it a chance to be considered in two races.

It won the L’Oeil d’Or at Cannes and has also screened at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals.

It will have qualifying screenings in New York and Los Angeles in December, then open in those cities on January 8, 2027, before expanding to other parts of the country.
