Abundant bonito brings lower prices to fish stalls in Ortahisar

Fish stalls in the Moloz area of Ortahisar, in Turkey, are selling three bonito for 100 lira.

Anchovies cost 100 to 150 lira per kilogram, while prices for other fish vary.

A local fish seller says bonito and several other kinds of fish are being caught in large quantities.

He described this as one of the most abundant bonito seasons in about 15 years.

A customer said the low prices made it a good time to buy, and another planned to freeze fish for winter.

The abundance has brought more customers to the stalls and made fish more affordable.

The seller hopes the season will continue at this level through April.
