Audits flag possible 957 million pesos in losses at Birmex and Mexico’s INM
Mexico’s Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance found possible losses of 419.5 million pesos at Birmex and 537 million pesos at the National Migration Institute, known as INM.
The findings came from audits carried out in 2024 and 2025.

The INM was unable to account for how it spent 537 million pesos.
These are possible losses, not confirmed wrongdoing, and some findings may still be under review or being clarified.
Birmex must provide documents to explain the issues; unresolved findings could be referred for investigation and lead to administrative sanctions.
Auditors also recommended stronger checks on public contracts, payments and medicine prices.
