Argent BioPharma sets four priorities, including healthy ageing research
Argent BioPharma says it will focus its work on immune modulation and inflammatory disease.
The company has named four strategic priorities, including research into healthy ageing and longevity, commercialisation and partnered drug development.
It says chronic, low-level inflammation is linked to ageing, a process often called inflammaging.
Argent plans to use its CimetrA program as a scientific and clinical foundation for this research.
The company says laboratory, preclinical and human clinical work on CimetrA has examined inflammatory and cellular stress pathways.
CannEpil, another company drug program, has been licensed globally to Splash Beverage Group, while Argent retains its intellectual property and a role in manufacturing and supply.
The licensing deal also extinguished about US$5 million in secured convertible debt.
Argent says the next stage of its ageing research will assess inflammatory, oxidative stress, metabolic and biological-age biomarkers.
