West Bengal election chief rejects claims linking voter deletions to poll results

West Bengal’s top election official disputed an online analysis linking voter roll deletions to assembly election results.

He said results in constituencies with the most and fewest deletions did not support that claim.

He also said there was no data on voters’ religion, and that women made up about half of some deletion records.

The official said voters must receive notice and a chance to appeal before being removed.
