U.P. chief electoral officer says 16.18 lakh voter forms filed during SIR

Form 6 is used to apply to become a voter.

Uttar Pradesh’s chief electoral officer said 16.18 lakh such applications were filed during the voter-roll revision and handled under Election Commission instructions.

The applications were separate from forms filed later, whose applicants’ names were made public.

The issue matters because the revision also involves checking voter details and removing names from the rolls.
