BI warns high interest rates may persist as global uncertainty weighs

Interest rates around the world may stay high for a long time because inflation and uncertainty remain elevated.

Higher rates in richer countries can make investors move money out of emerging markets such as Indonesia and into assets they see as safer.

That can put pressure on Indonesia’s financial markets.
