CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke detained at Delhi airport before planned protest

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke and two party leaders were detained by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport on October 10.

They were travelling to Delhi ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar.

The party said the demonstration was to demand Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Election Commission’s revision of electoral rolls.

CJP also called for changes to the process for appointing election commissioners.

Dipke had said before travelling that he was prepared to be detained and would continue campaigning for free and fair elections.

He and the party urged people to join the protest peacefully, while security restrictions and detentions were reported across Delhi.

The accounts provided do not say whether the Jantar Mantar protest went ahead or what happened to those detained.
