Jakarta Expands Education, Health and Job Access for People with Disabilities

Jakarta’s provincial government says it is expanding services and opportunities for people with disabilities.

The support covers education, health care, transport, social protection and work.

The city has 88 special schools, and 2,764 students at those schools received education aid in 2026.

Disability-friendly services are available at 44 community health centres and 31 public hospitals, and 37 accessible school buses run on 10 routes.

As of September 2026, 20,890 people had received the Jakarta Disability Card, and the government also provides equipment such as wheelchairs and hearing aids.

The city counts 4,324 workers with disabilities and has arranged a job fair with 500 vacancies; 133 people with disabilities are also supported through its Jakpreneur business programme.

Officials say the goal is to move beyond access to public facilities and give people with disabilities more equal chances to learn, work and participate in city life.
