Chaz Mostert backs Toyota’s first Bathurst 1000 win bid
Chaz Mostert believes he can help Toyota win the Bathurst 1000 for the first time.
He and co-driver Fabian Coulthard will start 16th among 26 cars at Mount Panorama in Australia.
Toyota is returning to the race for the first time since 1998.
Mostert has won the event twice, including a 2014 victory after starting from last place.
Toyota’s 2026 season has included a disqualification, mechanical failures and a crash during practice, but Mostert and Coulthard won at Tailem Bend last month.
Mostert says the team needs to keep improving and be in a position to take its chance, since the fastest car does not always win this race.
