Andhra Pradesh to Reconstitute 28 Zilla Praja Parishads
Andhra Pradesh currently has 13 district-level rural councils called Zilla Praja Parishads.
The government plans to create 28 councils instead.
There will be one council for each of the state’s 28 districts.
Each council will include the smaller Mandal Praja Parishads in its district.
The change will happen after the current councils’ terms end on September 24, 2026.
The councils will help plan, coordinate, monitor, and implement rural development programs.
Together, the 28 councils will cover 660 Mandal Praja Parishads.
The government will also add leadership posts and distribute staff among the new councils.
Andhra Pradesh will reorganize 13 existing Zilla Praja Parishads into 28, matching the state’s current districts.
The new ZPP structure will take effect after the existing elected bodies’ terms end on September 24, 2026.
Each ZPP will cover the Mandal Praja Parishads located within its corresponding district.
The 28 ZPPs will collectively include 660 Mandal Praja Parishads and oversee district-level rural development functions.
The government will add 15 CEO posts and 15 deputy CEO posts, increasing each category from 13 to 28.
