The government is splitting one large rural council into three smaller councils.

The councils will serve Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya districts.

The districts were reorganised in April 2022, but their councils had continued working together.

The old council’s term ends on September 24.

The three new councils are expected to start on September 25.

There will be more leadership positions because each council will have its own chairperson and vice-chairpersons.

The number of elected ZPTC seats will rise from 65 to 87.
