Delhi Police Arrest 17 in Alleged Anti-Cancer Drug Racket
Delhi Police say they have arrested 17 people in a case involving expensive cancer medicines.
Police allege that some medicines were fake, while others were taken from hospitals or government supplies.
The group allegedly sold the medicines to patients through a network operating in several cities.
Officers recovered hundreds of cancer-drug vials and thousands of other medicine units.
The medicines were estimated to be worth about Rs 9 crore.
Police also seized about Rs 50 lakh, records and packaging materials.
Investigators say fake labels and batch numbers were used to make some medicines look genuine.
The investigation is continuing, including questions about how government medicines were diverted.
Delhi Police arrested 17 people accused of selling counterfeit and illegally diverted anti-cancer medicines.
Authorities recovered 588 filled anti-cancer vials, six empty vials, seven empty boxes and 3,021 other medicine units.
The seized medicines were estimated to be worth around Rs 9 crore, alongside approximately Rs 50 lakh in cash.
Police said the alleged network operated across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and other locations, supplying patients in six metropolitan cities.
Investigators allege medicines were counterfeit, stolen or diverted from hospitals and government facilities, then repackaged and sold without required documentation.
